STABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF CANTILEVER NANOBIOSENSORS WITH SIMPLE AND COMPLEX MOLECULES FOR DETERMINATION OF CADMIUM

Abstract Cantilever nanobiosensors based on different receptors molecules (simple and complex) as urease enzyme, graphene oxide, and hybrid graphene oxide/urease were developed for cadmium detection. The reusability and storage long-term stability of the devices were studied for one month. The device with complex receptor molecules showed high sensitivity and low detection limits, high quantification in the ppt range in relation to the simple. Both devices as being 100% reversible after several cycles evaluated. Despite having their stability affected when stored for a long period of time (30 days), which resulted in a decrease in the detection limit. These great results obtained can be attributed to roughness, large active surface area, and height of graphene oxide/urease. The devices developed in this study have shown great potential for application in environmental monitoring and can detect the presence of cadmium in the ppt range.
