This article seeks to present a critique of the technical or instrumental use of language, from the viewpoint of the signification that this carries as a means for expression and communication in the construction people make of words to produce knowledge about reality. The teaching and learning that should be generated in the interpretive use of language are only possible if language can be incarnated in linguistic practices that make its permanent transformation viable. Precisely, this could be possible through metaphor and metanomy. It is important to avoid technologization of the word, since the recovery of language as rhetoric is the project that each person should carry out in order to interact with others in representing the world.
