Expression and significance of liver X receptor-α (LXRα) and Endoglin gene in placenta of hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy

2013
Objective To explore the levels of liverX receptor-α (LXRα) and Endoglin gene in placenta of hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy and their clinical significance. Methods Forty-four parturients with hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy(HDCP), admitted in the General Hospital of Beijing Military Command from Aug.2010 to Apr.2011, were recruited in the study group(HDCPgroup). Among them, 15 women suffered from gestational hypertension(GHgroup), 14 with moderate preeclampsia(MPEGroup) and 15 with severe preeclampsia(SPEgroup).Another16 healthy pregnant women were enrolled as control group. Quantitative real timeRT-PCR was used to investigate the expression of LXRα and Endogl in mRNA in placenta. Results The expression of LXRα mRNA in the placenta of HDCP group was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05).The expressions of LXRα mRNA in placenta of SPE and MPE groups were obviously higher than that in control group (P<0.05), and the expression of LXRα mRNA in placenta of SPE group was significantly higher than that in MPE group(P<0.05). The expression of Endoglin mRNA in placenta of HDCP group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05), and the expressions of Endoglin mRNA in placenta of both MPE group and SPE group were obviously higher than thatin control group (P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation of the level of expressions between LXRα and Endoglin mRNA in placenta of HDCP group(r=0.418, P<0.05). Conclusions The expressions of LXRα and Endoglin are significantly in creasedinplacenta of HDCP women, especially in MPE and SPE. The elevation may be closely related with the occurrence and development of HDCP.
