Overview of SCA 4.0 Specification

2013
SCA(Software Communications Architecture) establishes an implementationindependent framework, which serves as the baseline requirements for the software development for SDR(software defined radios). The SCA standard has already released several versions since 1999,and the newly-released SCA 4.0 is a major revised version of the standard.SCA 4.0,with the introduction of a new optional-inheritance design pattern, could realize lightweight components, and the introduction of Push model by SCA 4.0 can also reduce the time of startup and instantiation, and eliminate the need of naming service.CORBA is no longer mandated in SCA 4.0.By nested applications and application interconnection, the SCA component framework can directly support multiple-application deployment on a platform.SCA4.0 could be well tailored to the specific capabilities of each radio and its mission, and is more scalable, lightweight, and flexible than SCA 2.2.2.
