Impact of Temporal SNR Variation on MIMO Channel Capacity in Urban Microcells

2006
Usually the capacity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communica- tion channels is evaluated under the assumption of fixed signal to noise (SNR) scenario. In this paper the impact of temporal SNR variation on capacity of MIMO wireless channels in urban microcells is considered. Results based on data measured in line of sight (LOS) and non line of sight (NLOS) propagation scenarios at 5.3 GHz carrier frequency are presented. It is noticed that while the temporal SNR variation has significant impact on the capacity of MIMO wireless chan- nel in NLOS propagation scenario, the influence is less under LOS condition.
