Control of Volatile Organics Emission to the Atmosphere during the Solvent Sublation Process

1998
The solvent sublation technique has been applied for the removal of mesitylene from aqueous emulsion. The aim of the investigations was to determine the method of mesitylene emission control during air stripping or solvent sublation processes. It has been found that compared to air stripping, solvent sublation reduces to a great extent the emission of mesitylene to the atmosphere (91–95%). The residual emission (about 5 to 9%) could be minimized by the continuous flow of the organic layer, or totally avoided by carbon adsorption on a charcoal trap.
