Quality Control, Auditing, and Reporting

2016
Monitoring the quality of each component of a large-scale genomics research project is vital to its success. A centralized quality management system should be established prior to the start of the project. The system should produce automated checks on quality metrics that are defined for each component of the pipeline. Remediation plans should be enacted if metrics are not met. The system should also produce reports to project stakeholders on a frequent basis in order to identify any patterns in quality incidents. This helps reduce the risk of error and increase efficiency in producing deliverables.
