Electrical and thermal conductivities of magnetically melt textured YBa2Cu3O7−δ

1994
Abstract Electrical and thermal conductivities of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ ceramic material prepared by the magnetically melt textured technique have been studied. The electrical resistivities in the (a, b) planes and along the c-axis both linearly increase with temperature when T > 120 K. The thermal conductivity in the (a, b) planes is about one order of magnitude lower than that of the best single crystals. Along the c-axis, it falls down to 0.35 W/m.K, an interesting result in the light of possible applications such as current leads for conventional low temperature superconducting devices.
