Analysis of transient heat conduction

A new method is presented to solve transient heat-conduction problems by superposing solutions of steady-state and transient problems expressed as simultaneous equations. The steady-state heat-conduction problem and the eigenvalue problem equivalent to the simultaneous transient heat-conduction problem are formulated using the finite-element method. This method is found to give more accurate solutions than the ordinary finite-element method using the Cranck-Nicholson technique
