A contact grid and power pack hybrid power supply motor train unit traction system is characterized by mainly comprising a traction transformer, the power pack, a traction converter, a traction motor and a brake resistor, wherein the contact grid is connected with a primary side of the traction transformer through a pantograph; two secondary side windings of the traction transformer are directly connected with the traction converter; the traction converter is connected with the traction motor; a diesel engine and an electric generator form the power pack; and a three-phase output of the electric generator is directly connected with the traction converter. According to the motor train unit traction system, crossline operation can be realized, and different conveying requirements of different environments can be met; in a non-electrification road segment, a power pack power supply mode is adopted, and the normal operation of the motor train unit traction system in a working condition without the contact grid is realized; two power systems are adopted, so that the motor train unit has the operation capacity on a non-electrification road segment, and also has emergency rescue and war preparation functions in special weather of rain or snow or when the contact grid is damaged.
