Study of the Influence with Different Berth Length for LNG Carrier Mooring

The changes in the amount of movement and cable tension of 172,000 m3 LNG ships under the combined action of wind, wave and current with different berth lengths are compared, and the influences of different berth lengths for the mooring of LNG ships are analyzed. Using the overall physical model test method of ship mooring, it is concluded that: Under the conditions of cross-wave, cross-wind and down-flow, the berth length is shortened, and the cable force shares part of the horizontal cable force, which is beneficial to the balanced cable and the horizontal cable force, and the maximum cable force becomes smaller. Under the conditions of smooth waves, tail wind and falling currents, the change of berth length has little effect on the mooring force. Under the condition of oblique wave, cross wind and falling current, the ship is subjected to the oblique wave, and the wave force is distributed in the longitudinal and lateral directions. The force of the broken cable is basically equal to that of the horizontal cable or the cable. When the wind is down, the reverse force will be greater than the horizontal force and the bow and stern force. The proposed berth length is 390m.
