Chitinozoaires de l'Arenig supérieur (Zone D) de la Formation de Lévis, Québec, Canada

1982
The Shumardia limestone that forms the upper part of the Levis Formation (Zone D) yields well preserved assemblages of chitinozoans. These assemblages seem to be characterized by a new species: Conochitina pirum. They also contain Fustichitina langei, Conochitina poumoti, and Conochitina cf. C. kryos species, which permit a comparison with Arenig microfaunas from Spitsbergen and Australia. The paleontological data, especially those given by graptolites, indicate that Zone D is of late Arenig age. This age determination is corroborated by the absence of lower Llanvirn chitinozoans in the samples studied.
