Yafsoanite: a garnet type calcium-tellurium(VI)-zinc oxide

A single crystal X-ray investigation of yafsoanite resulted ina = 12.632(2) A, space groupIa3d, cell content 8 × Ca3Te2Zn3O12 (with some Pb for Ca),R = 0.075,wR = 0.028 for 186 independent reflections. Contrary to the results of an earlier investigation, yafsoanite was found to be a garnet type oxide with the atoms Ca, Te(VI) and Zn coordinated to eight, six and four O atoms, respectively.
