TAMPA BAY REGIONAL PLANNING MODEL

1995
This synopsis highlights the concepts used in the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Model, which is designed to meet the needs of four rapidly growing and highly interdependent counties. A new trip generation model was developed based on lifestyles. Trip distribution, modal split, and trip assignment models were restructured to accurately reflect the characteristics and usage of all travel modes. Goods movement and land use allocation were considered as well. Finally, evaluation methodologies were incorporated in the model chain to assess the impact of alternatives on accessibility, air quality, fuel consumption, development patterns, travel costs, and operating conditions. This summary appears in a compendium of conference papers.
