Nevertheless false positive and false negative findings result in cases of gall-stones in the ductus cysticus, of acute cholecystitis and thickness of the gall-bladder wall. Therefore where sonographic findings differ from the intraoperative laparoscopic situs the operating surgeon should change to conventional cholecystectomy early enough to avoid complications.
