The invention relates to a detection method for rapidly positioning local discharge of a GIS (geographic information system) by using an ultrasonic testing technology. The detection method comprises the following steps: (1) respectively providing an ultrasonic probe in each air chamber in an interval of a power GIS; (2) carrying out synchronous data collection on each ultrasonic probe; (3) analyzing and comparing the data collected by each ultrasonic probe; (4) gradually detecting each air chamber in other intervals of the power GIS according to the order from the step (1) to the step (3). By adopting the detection method, local discharge of the GIS is subjected to ultrasonic local discharge detection by a multi-channel GIS using a zigBee wireless sensor network transmission technology and a GPS (global position system) synchronous collecting technology; the ultrasonic probes are respectively arranged inside each independent air chamber; a collecting command is transmitted by a host computer of a control display part; each probe synchronously collects the data through the GPS, so that the test efficiency of ultrasonic detection on local discharge inside the GIS is improved; the functions of rapidly detecting and positioning local discharge inside the GIS are achieved; the detection time is shortened; the problem that a plurality of interval equipments are detected within limited time in a commissioning test of the GIS is overcome.
