Cause Analysis of Defect in Aluminum Alloy Cooling Plate Welding by Friction Stir Welding

2020
Friction stir welding (FSW) is an advanced welding method in fabrication of Aluminum alloy cooling plate. This study analyzes the factors that cause the formation of the defects, such as cracks, holes, surface bubbles, in the cooling plate during FSW. It is found that the main reasons that influence the welding quality are only welding parameter but also surface cleanness and fit clearance.
