CONCRETE REPAIR WITH A TWIST : DURABLE PANEL TECHNIQUE BOOSTS LIFE SPAN TO 30 TO 40 YEARS

Pre-cast concrete panels are being tested in some concrete pavement repair applications after completion of a study for FHWA by the Center for Transportation Research (CTR) at the University of Texas, Austin. Though construction costs are higher, daily user costs are less because the panels are pre-cured, thus reducing delays. A second pilot study is expected to take place fall 2002 on I-10 near El Monte, California.
