Apparatus and method for coding and decoding image

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for coding and decoding images. The apparatus for coding and decoding images includes: a parameter calculation unit for calculating a brightness compensation parameter on the basis of at least one first pixel adjacent to the current block and second pixels adjacent to at least one motion prediction block obtained using a predictive motion vector; a target pixel selection unit for selecting a target pixel for performing brightness compensation among the pixels within at least one prediction block, wherein the target pixel is determined by the motion vector with respect to the current block using peripheral pixels adjacent to the at least one motion prediction block; and a predictive coding unit applying the brightness compensation parameter to the selected target pixel to generate a compensation prediction block with respect to the at least one prediction block, thereby performing predictive coding.
