Planning international interconnections at EDF: technical and economic aspects

Planning a power system consists of taking decisions about investments in order to meet future demand with an acceptable quality of service while minimizing the overall costs. The authors present EDF's approach in the field of interconnection planning: the study organization, the evaluation of economic savings and technical advantages brought by the planned network, and some concrete examples of such recent studies.
