Melanoma de pene. Presentación de un caso y revisión de la literatura

2005
Melanoma of the penis is rare and its prognosis is very poor. Accounts for 1% of all penile primary neoplasms. Its highest frequency is between 50 and 60 years. It is located in the glans in half of the cases. Treatment is mainly surgical and 3 cm. surgical margins are advised. Indications for lymphadenectomy are still controversial. Sentinel lymph node dissection has been recommended. 5- year survival is less than 30%. The bad prognosis is associated to deep lesions (more than 1.5 mm) and diagnostic delay. We present a case of penile melanoma, the third to be reported in Mexican literature.
