An improved temperature model for thermal ratings calculation of transmission line

2012
In this paper, an improved conductor temperature model is described. This model is based on dynamic thermal rating technology and reference conductor. Using this model, the solar radiation sensors, the anemometer and the environment temperature sensors were no longer needed. Since measurement error of conductor temperature is inevitable, the calculation error of maximum capacity will exist. In this paper, two approaches to deal with this situation were studied using LGJ240/30 as an example. One approach is calculating the average value of the heat transfer coefficient or the maximum capacity in a period of time. Another approach is using the least-squares approach to fit the conductor temperature for a short period of time. By the research, using the latter, the final error can be controlled within about 3%.
