High-average power optical demodulation of a fiber amplified phase modulated single-frequency signal

2011
We report to the best of our knowledge on the first proof-of-principle experiment demonstrating high average power (10 W) optical demodulation of a fiber amplified phase-modulated single frequency signal with a sideband suppression of more than 30 dB. The single frequency signal is delivered by an external cavity diode laser with a bandwidth of <100 kHz and was phase-modulated and demodulated with an amplitude of +/-1.435 rad at an RF frequency of 80 MHz in a fiber integrated format with the goal to increase the SBS threshold.
