New Year, new beginnings

2016
As we welcome the New Year, the journal is also entering a new phase. We say goodbye to Heather McClelland who after ten years is retiring as editor. Heather has worked extremely hard with the team and the journal has gone from strength to strength, the highlights being that the journal now has an impact factor of 0.703 and we have had our inaugural conference in Dublin in 2014, which was a resounding success. We wish Heather all the best for her future endeavours and we say hello to the new editorial team. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you. The setup is a bit different from the traditional model but then like, emergency nursing, things are always dynamic and often requires new and collaborative ways of working. There will be a team of three editors with Petra Brysiewicz and Gerry Lee acting as co-editors and Simon Cooper as associate editor responsible for developing the prehospital section of the journal. Petra Brysiewicz is a full professor of nursing in the School of Nursing & Public Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her research interests are the psychosocial implications of violence and injury for health professionals, families and patients, as well as looking to develop ways of supporting emergency nurses working in resource constrained, multi-cultural environments. Petra had the privilege many years ago of meeting Bob Wright, the founding editor-in-chief of the then Accident and Emergency Nursing journal (precursor to the International Emergency Nursing journal) and is honoured to be taking up the position of co-editor of the journal Bob started.
