Calidad de vida y bienestar en pacientes de cáncer que reciben quimioterapia a altas dosis: Un estudio preliminar

The assessment of quality of fife and well-being in cancer patients receiving new schedules of treatment must be carried out together with the assessment of cure and survival rates. Thus, the aim of this study is to show some results of an ongoing research with cancer patients receiving o new treatment which combines high-dose chemotherapy with autologous blood transfusion, and is followed by on isolation period. Data from 10 breast cancer patients suggest that levels of distress ore not higher than those observed while receiving similar treatments such as bone morrow transplantation. Furthermore, there is not a great decreasing on the quality of life. However there ore large individual differences which show that adjuvant psychological therapy is needed in some cases
