Traumatic Brain Injury in Very Early Childhood
2019
Much research has been published on the cognitive and behavioural outcomes of TBI sustained by school age children. In comparison, the recovery of children who are injured at preschool age and younger has been often a subject of research. This chapter focuses on traumatic brain injury (TBI) in infants and young children. For the purpose of this chapter we define early TBI from infancy up to five years of age, referring to this age group as ‘young children’.
