Ion Microprobe Analysis of Hydrogen in Titanium in Relation to the Massive Void Problem in Electron Beam Welds.

1972
Abstract : Ion Microprobe analysis was utilized to investigate the role of hydrogen in the formation of massive voids during electron beam welding of titanium and to evaluate the effect of selected treatments on hydrogen contamination and elimination. Localized measurements of hydrogen concentration were made on simulated massive void specimens, prepared by hydrogen charging and welding, as well as on samples exposed to various processing conditions.
