Ice Composites: Mechanical Properties and Methods of Creation

2003
This paper highlights the applicability of ice composites as an arctic construction material. The results of studying ice strengthened by disperse and fibrous reinforcement are presented. The analytical relationships for determining the strength of ice reinforced with short length fibres are derived. The test data on crack resistance of ice composites at a high rate of loading are summarized.
