Evaluación de la estabilidad maxilar posterior a cirugía ortognática tipo Le Fort I de avance mayor a 4 mm.

2020
Orthognathic surgery is the indicated surgical procedure to correct congenital or acquired dentofacial anomalies (ADF), which affect the relationships between bone and soft tissues. Surgery improves functional aspects, obtaining harmony in the craniofacial system. The result of orthognathic surgery will be affected by multiple factors such as the magnitude of the surgical movement or the trajectory, therefore, it is of utmost importance to be able to assess the amount of recurrence in the long term. The fixation of maxillary osteotomies has evolved over the last four decades, changing from wire osteosynthesis to various forms of rigid fixation in an effort to increase this stability. The purpose of this study is to evaluate if there are differences in the stability of bony tissues after a Le Fort I type osteotomy with an advance greater than 4 mm, fixed with plates and screws, in patients treated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Military Central Hospital.
