Hubungan Kepatuhan Diet dengan Neuropati Perifer pada Diabetisi di Kabupaten Kendal

2018
Peripheral neuropathy is one of the most common microangiopathic complications and may affect about half of all patients with diabetes. Peripheral neuropathy may cause autonomic, sensory, and motor nerves systems that can lead to complications of foot ulcers and amputation. Complications can be prevented by doing diabetes management such as diabetic diet. The aims of this study was to determine the relationship between dietary adherence with peripheral neuropathy in people with diabetes in Puskesmas Kendal 02. This research was quantitative correlation research with cross sectional approach. Purposive sampling was used in this research. The number of samples were 80 respondents. The data were collected with peripheral neuropathy checklists and the Perceived Dietary Adherence Questionnaire (PDAQ). Data analysis used spearman rank's correlation test. The results showed people with moderate neuropathy (53.8%), mild neuropathy (43.8%) and neuropathy (2.5%). The majority of respondents have a fairly adherent compliance diet level (66.2%). The result of bivariate analysis showed no significant relationship between dietary adherence and peripheral neuropathy level ρ = 0.066 (ρ> 0.05). Value r = 0.206 which means correlated weak, r positive means the better level of dietary adherence then the level of neuropathy will be low. This study is expected to be a good suggestion for people with diabetes, family, nurses, and community health centers to maximize dietary adherence to prevent peripheral neuropathy.
