Relacje semantyczne tekstu (niekoniecznie literackiego) i elementów wizualnych w książce artystycznej. Próba zarysowania problematyki

The beginning of the article is a reconnaissance in the area of research – some definitions of the phenomenon of the artistic book are referred to, as well as one of the typologies of artistic book varieties. The main part of the article is a review of individual artistic books by Polish and foreign authors. In each case, the relationship of image, space and text is discussed, most fully in two works of the Wroclaw visual artist Andrzej Dudek-Durer, analyzed using the semiotic concept of Willard Bohn. In addition, the article discusses works from two currents in particular: cultivating the traditional, handwritten character of the book (Malgorzata Łempicka-Brian, Krzysztof Szalek, Zbigniew Makowski, Dorota Kamisinska, Andrzej Bednarczyk) and the trend of book-sculpture (Mike Stilkey, Cara Barer, Annemarie Kloosterhof), diametrically opposed to the object, which is a book.
