OCORRÊNCIA DE FUNGOS FILAMENTOSOS EM ACERVO DA FACULDADE DE MEDICINA DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE GOIÁS

Microorganisms, like fungi and bacteria, among other environmental factors may be a serious threat to the library and its archives, as well as, cause harm to allergic or immunosuppressed people. We collected sample material from books, file boxes, pictures, shelves, and wood box surfaces, as well as, environmental air from a damp and unventilated archive room, of the basement of one building of the Faculty of Medicine. Aspergillus spp, Penicillium spp, Mucor spp among others fungi were isolated in sampled material and air. This study points to the possibility of accidental work diseases in neglected and closed spaces like this one.
