The ‘pusher’ syndrome in elderly stroke patients

Reports on the ‘pusher’ syndrome have been conflicting. A small survey was undertaken to examine the relationships between ipsilateral pushing, unilateral visual neglect and motor performance in stroke patients, and an association was found. Therapists should identify perceptual as well as physical deficits in such patients to enable appropriate management.
