Value of systemic ultrasonography in screening fetal congenital heart malformations

2011
Objective To evaluate the value of systemic ultrasonography in screening fetal congenital heart malformations. Methods A total of 4501 pregnant women underwent systemic ultrasonography with four-chamber(4C)view,left and right ventricular outflow tract(LVOT and RVOT)views, three vessels and trachea(3VT)view.Fetus with complicated congenital heart malformations were suggested to be re-examined in provincial prenatal diagnosis center. All the fetus with suspected congenital heart malformations underwent detailed echocardiography. All the suspected cases were confirmed by postpartum or induced labor autopsy. Results In 4501 cases,40 cases were with congenital heart malformations.37 cases(92.5%)were diagnosed with systemic ultrasonography, the detection rate was 92.5%.While 3 cases were missed diagnosed, the missed diagnosis rate was 7.5%.Conclusion Systemic fetal ultrasonography is simple, convenient, and has high accuracy, which is a preferable way to screen fetal heart malformations.
