Effect of cationic surfactants and salts on the acid-base properties of pyrocatechol violet

The effect of the cationic surfactant Septonex and strong electrolytes NaCl and NaNO 3 on the absorption spectra of the individual dissociation forms and on the values of the conditional dissociation constants of pyrocatechol violet was studied. It was found that the direction of the shift in the dissociation constants is determined by both the concentration of the surfactant and of the salts present.
