Synthesis of β-Carbolines from Aldehydes and Ketones via the α-Siloxy α,β-Unsaturated Esters.

An efficient synthesis of β-carbolines via acid-promoted condensation of tryptamine or tryptophane with α-siloxy-α,β-unsaturated esters is described.
