Reactions of alkane acids and their derivatives with 1-alkenes, initiated by tertiary butyl hydroperoxide

1967
1. The authors have obtained 1∶1 adducts by the addition of acetic anhydride, malonic ester, propionic acid, and methyl monochloroacetate to 1-alkenes in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide. 2. Initiation of addition is due mainly to the free radicals formed by thermal decomposition of tert-butyl peresters and tert-butyl hydroperoxide. 3. tert-Butyl peresters are formed by acylation of tert-butyl hydroperoxide by carboxylic acids, their esters, and anhydrides.
