Nanometer-sized Ferroelectic Ceramics: Size Effect and Mechanism

Reviewed is the preparation of nanometer-sized ferroelectric powder, focusing on nanopowders of BaTiO3, as well as the associated mechanisms behind the grain size effect. An elucidation was also pursued for the formation of microstructure in a nanometer size and its effect on the macroscopical properties in the ferroelectric bulk materials. The most favored size distribution for the excellent dielectric characteristics may be applied to the capacitor industry. Nanotechnology will play an important role in both the practical application and the scientific investigations.
