Solid malignant uterine tumours

2001
Abstract Uterine sarcomas are a rare group of uterine tumours. The majority consist of leiomyosarcomas, endometrial stromal and mixed mesodermal sarcomas. The most important treatment for this tumour group is removal of the uterus. Radiotherapy is of use in reducing the incidence of local relapse but its effect on the 5-year survival is not proven. Trials are currently evaluating chemotherapy for advanced or recurrent disease the most active agents being ifosfamide and doxirubicin.
