2019
As of 2018, Korea entered the phase of aged society and 10% of the elderly people aged over 65 in Korea are suffering from dementia. Under this circumstance, the Moon Jae-in government formally announced the National Responsibility for Dementia (NRD) in 2017. This study suggests that the government has timely systemized a solution to address the problems of the elderly with dementia in the aged society. From this point of view, this study examined the introduction of the current system, and issues to be addressed for the sustainability of the NRD. This study used a method of literature review. This study was based on the review and analysis of laws, documents, and precedents related to national systems addressing the issue of dementia. The implications of this study are as follows: First, it examines the introduction process of the NRD and examines the issues raised as problems. This will stimulate further discussion on the NRD. Second, based on the discourse on caring, which is the premise of the NRD, we tried to discuss subjects including laws and systems from a comprehensive point of view.
