STUDY ON VCT-RELATED KNOWLEDGE,ATTITUDES AND EXPERIENCES AMONG RESIDENTS IN GUIZHOU PROVINCE

[Objectives]To understand the VCT-related knowledge,attitudes and experiences among residents in Guizhou province,and to provide basis for implementing VCT for AIDS.[Methods]A two-stage cluster sampling with probability proportional to size(PPS) was conducted.500 residents in a China CARES county and 512 residents in a comparison county were interviewed to complete a structured questionnaire.[Results]VCT-related knowledge levels were low and experiences were limited among participants.The attitudes toward VCT need to be changed.[Conclusions]Level of HIV/AIDS and VCT related knowledge need to be improved among residents in Guizhou province through health education.A multi-model testing and counselling strategy is needed to find more HIV infections.
