Testbed for Wide-Area Environment Observation

A general testbed is necessary for Internet of Things (IOT) system performance evaluation before large-scale implementation. In this manuscript, we propose an architecture for wide-area environment observation, and the integration of terrestrial and aerial communication plays important role in the architecture. Our testbed includes four components: location tracker, terrestrial stand-alone data collector, aerial data relay system, and a general platform. We introduce the first-step real-world system implementation, also we discuss IPv6 and 5G applications.
