The invention relates to a method for in vitro establishing a prognosis of severity in a patient with septic shock, comprising the steps of: (i) from a biological sample from said patient, is measured in vitro the level of expression of the expression product of at least one gene selected from genes and lilrb2 lilrb1, (ii) comparing the level of expression of the expression product of said at least one gene expression level with a control of good prognosis severity for the expression product of the same gene, wherein a level of expression of the expression product of said at least one gene under said control expression level is indicative of a bad severity of prognosis for the patient and a kit for the implementation of the process.
