Pavement Damage due to Dynamic Load – Brazilian Road Deterioration Test with MS-WIM

2012
The constant use of overloaded Heavy Vehicles (HVs) in Brazil is known to aggravate pavement design, and less HV control results in increased overloading. This study records dynamic load effect and offers a continuous assessment of pavement strains, stress, moisture and temperature. Two activities comprise this study. First, pavement instrumentation is considered (with sensors installed in pavement layers) and data is acquired from pavement signal response in specific periods of time. Next, mechanical characteristics of the material are evaluated through a fatigue test and a complex modulus test determination.
