CLIMATE CHANGES AND RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

This paper outlines the basic information on climate characteristics, emissionsof greenhouse gases (GHG) and the observed climate changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH). Special attention was paid to the possibilities of using renewable energysources (RES) and their impact on the environment. In addition, the paper describes threeGHG emissions reduction scenarios by 2025 in BiH and gives some information about RESlegislation and feed-in tariffs in BiH. The paper points out that in order to establish the ecologicalbalance and sustainable development of mankind, it is necessary to make greater useof renewable energy sources, as well as that renewable energy contributes to the reductionof the GHG emissions, reduction of the fossil fuels use, development of local industries andcreation of new jobs.
