Method for controlling waste water treating process of aerobic activated sludge type

1989
PURPOSE: To rapidly and surely measure a microorganism and to regulate waste water treatment by converting the fluorogenic substrate of a selected microorganism in activated sludge, measuring the converted substrate by flow cytometry and measuring the whole quantity of the microorganism at the same time. CONSTITUTION: The quantity of the microorganism of 021N type, 0961 type, etc., frequently emerging from inside an activated sludge is successively monitored. In this case, the fluorogenic substrate is combined with a fluorescent labeled antibody to the selected microorganism or converted by the unique metabolism of the microorganism, and the quantity of the fluorescent labeled microorganism is measured by flow cytometry. Further, the whole quantity of the microorganism is measured by scattered light or DNA dyeing. The quantity and growth condition of the specified microorganism are monitored in this way, and a biological waste water treating equipment is regulated and controlled. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
