Comparação dos Hábitos Tabágicos entre Grupos Geracionais na ESTSP

Smoking is a major public health problem. We conducted a cross-sectional study, descriptive and observational, with the aim of characterizing the smoking habits in two generations groups of Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saude do Porto (ESTSP). We applied a questionnaire adapted from the Inquerito Nacional de Saude 2005/2006 on a sample of two groups: adults and youths. The overall prevalence of smoking was 32,2%, being higher in females (35%) in young (39,2%) and in the course of Audiology (17,5%). The high prevalence of smoking demonstrates that an adoption of effective measures to prevent smoking is needed.
