SUPERPAVE IS HERE TO STAY: MAKING SUPERPAVE WORK

The Superpave System is the mixture design system for the future. SHRP produced a final product for performance-based asphalt specifications, developed the basic volumetric mix design using the gyratory compactor and developed asphalt-aggregate performance prediction and analysis models and software. This system gives the engineer the contractor a new set of tools for designing pavements that will perform better at extreme temperatures and under heavy loads.
