Network Lifetime Evaluation in Heterogeneous WSN with Different Node Placement Distributions

2020
In this paper, the effect of different node placement strategies on maximizing the lifetime of heterogeneous wireless sensor network is investigated. Normal, exponential and uniform node placement distributions are utilized. Stable election protocol (SEP) is used to evaluate the performance of different node location distributions in terms of stability and instability periods, network lifetime and throughput. It was noticed that different node distributions have almost the same stable and unstable regions. It was also shown that normal distribution has a slightly larger throughput compared to the uniform and exponential distributions.
