2011
Based on in-depth interviews, open questionnaires and literature review,we use exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis techniques to identify the structural dimensions of the HPWS(High Performance Work System) in Chinese enterprises by surveying 812 managers and employees in 107 units of various industries.Furthermore,we examine the impact of HPWS on firm performance with structural equation modeling. The results show that:(1) HPWS has eight dimensions of result-oriented appraisal, comprehensive training, information sharing, extensive benefits, work team, employment security, contingent compensation and elective recruiting;(2) HPWS has a significant positive impact on both internal and external performance, while effect on internal performance is greater than external.
